Digital Design Work’s and Internet How To’s

Just a quick post!

October 26th, 2007 by wildheart4vr

Yup I know it has been a couple of weeks since I have posted anything on this blog and well I have had some personal issues the last two weeks that have taken my time from building this blog the way I had wanted to originally.

I was in a car accident about two and a half weeks ago, and I have had about three tests with school that I needed to study for. I have so much new stuff that I am eager to get on with and get on here. I have recently acquired Adobe Photoshop CS2 and as I mentioned in an earlier post I finally got the missing key if you will plugged into my system at home to make some plug ins work with paint shop pro. I am also getting a 3D software package and my ex boyfriend is letting me use his new animator software too so I will have plenty of new material soon.

I am posting from the computer labs at school right now as I had a decent break between classes today. We only discussed the test we took last Friday. I am thinking that the same will be true for my 1:00 class as well.

By the way you will notice that the BlogRush widget is no longer on my blog. I was one of the ones they nixxed when they did their massive audit of what they felt were worthy sites. I am not worried about that right now. Blogrush isn’t where I get my traffic from anyway. I get my traffic from StumbleUpon, Digg and Redditt so I am not too worried about getting the ax from this new and yet up and comming social networking module. I will learn not to be an early adopter again. Iwill only stick with social networking and bookmarking sites that have been out there for awhile and have a more established following.

Gotta go get something to eat at the Union!

Ciao

Feedback from my camouflage post.

October 11th, 2007 by wildheart4vr

Ok just to set the record straight when I am showing a screen shot with an image it is merely a demonstration on how to do something with the program not the be all end all final draft of what I had planned to achieve. This blog is just as much of a learning tool for me as it is my readers. Do not criticize for the sake of being able to do it. If your a designer and come across my blog and want to offer constructive feedback on how I could have done something different to produce another effect that maybe I honestly hadn’t thought of I can deal with that. For the non designers don’t leave a comment that it is the worst thing you have ever saw and move on down the road. I just want to nicely point out that it took me two years of tinkering with paint shop pro to finally figure out how to get two plug ins to work and last night I finally hit gold on how to get the rest of the plug ins I had in the program to finally click. I will share that with you in another post.

So please play nice on my blog and as my grandmother always told me if you can’t think of anything nice to say then don’t say it at all.

For those who create virtual worlds!

October 7th, 2007 by wildheart4vr

I found this on a site called sharecg.com this is obviously a virtual school and there are many other virtual settings on this particualr site. This is a great site for those who are into 3D animation and those who are paint shop pro users there are things on this site that you too can utilize. I have already downloaded several abstract pattern tiles into my pattern file.

Demonstrating how to make camouflage with paint shop pro.

October 6th, 2007 by wildheart4vr

I went back through my plug ins that I tinkered with to try and get to work with paint shop pro and it happens that I only got three of them to work properly. All is not lost though. I got two cool plug ins from VDL Adreniline you can find the plug ins at Jumbo PSP site.

Now the one I really like that I did get to work is the camouflage plug in. In honor of our troops serving in the armed forces I thought this orange Halloween styled camouflage tile looked really interesting and I am also showing a screen shot of the settings I used to get the effect.

There are three steps you need to do first before you can use this plug in and they are as follows:

  • Open a new image your dimensions of choice
  • Go to your color picker and choose a grey or light color for your foreground
  • Flood fill your layer with the color you chose. The flood fill tool is a little paint can found in your left hand tool bar.

This is my result.

Now these are the settings I used to get the result.

You can use the tile for your own use just give my site credit and save it to your own hard drive so you don’t use my band with.

A lightbulb moment with Paint Shop Pro

October 5th, 2007 by wildheart4vr

Holy bajeezus I finally figured out how to get plug ins to work with Paint Shop Pro. It only seems like it took me forever and a day to figure it out. I have been working with paint shop pro for eons and was getting very discouraged on ever trying to figure out how to get plug ins to work. I am going to work on putting together some screen shots for you over the weekend on how to do it. I am a visual person  and  it seems as if there was never any visual aides to help me figure this out so I just floundered out in the design sea trying to figure it out on my own. I want to show you how to do it for the safety of your own sanity.

So tune in this weekend to see what I come up with for you.

Using gradients to demonstrate color values.

October 1st, 2007 by wildheart4vr

A color value is the lighter end of any given color or the dark end of any given color. I thought these three tiles using gradients in paint shop pro would help to demonstrate the black, brown and yellow color values.

value3.jpg

This tile shows the light value of black and the dark value of black.

value2.jpg

This shows different values of brown from light to dark manipulated within a paint shop pro gradient.

value1.jpg

Light yellow color value and dark yellow color values are demonstrated in this gradient tile.

You can find a more detailed lesson on color values at maKart.
