Two Free Frames for Paint Shop Pro

March 30th, 2008 by wildheart4vr

I was sitting here thinking about what to do my guest post for Karen over at Scraps of Mind on. Well I got to thinking and it has been some time since I have made any new frames. So today I give you my latest additions to my frames collection.

The first one I really liked I used a gradient to make it with and the second one I used a pattern.

You can view a tutorial on how to make these over at Nanson’s Place.

You are free to use these just make sure you give credit to the maker.

Paint Shop Pro Toolbar Explained

March 19th, 2008 by wildheart4vr

Ok this is more for the newbies to Paint Shop Pro rather than the intermediate to advanced users but it still needs to be addressed. I want to take some time to explain what the tools are and what they do on the tool bar on the initial user interface and also what the tool bar names and functions are on the design tool bar.

Lets get started.

I am going to give you the names and definitions from the user guide I got with my program. I use version 9 and some of these may or may not be available in older versions and the newer versions but if not that is ok just let me know what version your using and I will be happy to try and find out for you what I can.

First in the User Inerface

Menu Bar- displays commands for performing tasks, are organized by topic e.g, effects contains commands for applying effects to images

Tool bars- display buttons for common commands

Palettes- display information and help you select tools, modify options, manage layers select colors, and perform other editing tasks

Status Bar- displays text about the selected tool or menu command as well as image information, including dimensions and color depth

Browser- displays thumbnail previews of image files, you can open, delet copy and perform other file commands in the browser

Print Layout Window- displays a window on which you can arrange and size multiple images, add text captions, apply templates and then print the images

Now lets look at the tool bar that you work with when you are designing.

Standard tool bar- displays the most common commands, such as saving images, undoing a command, and cutting items

Tools- crop, paint, draw, type and perform other image editing tasks

Browser- displays commands for using paint shop pro browser

Effects- displays commands for applying effects

Photo- displays commands for enhancing photos

Script- displays commands for creating and running scripts

Web- displays commands for creating and saving images for the web

The effects tool is one of the tools you will be working with the most as it stores your 3D effects, distortion effects, artistic effects to name a few and also stores your plug ins.

As I said at the top of this informational post this is geared toward the novice paint shop pro user and I will be writing more of these for my readers. I learned everything on my own without much but online tutorials and forums to help me along the way. So I am trying to give the folks who stop by my blog who look at my stuff and think “WOW” I want to learn how to do that , then go get the program, bring it home and set it up and have no clue what they are looking at.

I told him I would feature some of his work from time to time I hope you enjoy this piece.
